Thank You Note To Buffalo,

The Circle Remains Unbroken – Working Girl Returns to Buffalo

My name is Kathy Charlton. My partner, Molly Rivard and I visited your city the week of July 13 to promote our “Working Girl” wines.

Our winery, Olympic Cellars, is located in Port Angeles, WA about as far West as you can travel from Buffalo.  Although the trip was long, it seemed to go by fast as Molly told me countless stories of growing up with her 10 siblings on Courier Blvd in Kenmore.

The night we arrived, we drove through the city, with Molly and her sister, Anne, excitably pointing out landmarks, driving by their old family home and grieving over last year’s snow storm that struck tragedy to the beautiful old trees on neighborhood streets.

I just sat, smiled and listened…. Not really able to get a word in, after all two very close sisters were talking a mile a minute. To me, it wasn’t late at night anymore because I was basking in the warm glow of “family”. In fact, FAMILY was the operative word for our visit. Everywhere we went we were welcomed with an open hospitality that I’ve come to think of as unique to family run businesses, close neighborhoods and community support.

The highlight of our trip was presenting our donation check to the Women and Children’s Hospital to support the special needs of the 8th floor - Hematology and Oncology. A portion of the proceeds of Working Girl Wines is contributed to local charities in the states where the wines are sold.

The Circle Does Feel Unbroken… Molly and her 10 brothers and sisters were born at Children’s Hospital along with Molly’s mother. Anne, Molly’s sister is a nurse on the 8th floor. And, Molly is part of a small winery whose wines are now sold in her hometown!

Thank you for your support, Kathy
